Rensselaer Medal

- Award
- $40,000 per year, guaranteed for four years (five years for the B.Arch. program), a total of $160,000, for each Medalist who is accepted and enrolls at Rensselaer.
- Deadline
- Participating high schools selected their Class of 2027 Rensselaer Medal nominee by May 1, 2026, when the students were juniors. That nomination window has passed for current seniors; previously nominated medalists apply to RPI for Fall 2027 admission.
- How to apply
- Students do not apply. Officials at each participating high school nominate one outstanding math and science student in the junior class through the secure medal website. Medalists who then apply to Rensselaer, are accepted and enroll receive the scholarship.

- High school juniors nominated by a participating high school for distinguished achievement in mathematics and science.
- Good to know
- RPI's current high-school counselor page explicitly dates Class of 2027 medal selections as due May 1, 2026. It says Class of 2028 nomination information will be sent in March 2027. Seniors who already received the Medal as juniors should apply to RPI to use it. RPI gives only the single highest merit award a student qualifies for; awards are not combined.
